چکیده

A memory-based heuristic is a function, h(s), stored in the form of a lookup table (pattern database): h(s) is computed by mapping s to an index and then retrieving the appropriate entry in the table. (Korf 1997) conjectures for search using memory-based heuristics that m · t is a constant, where m is the size of the heuristic’s lookup table and t is search time. In this paper we present a method for automatically generating memorybased heuristics and use this to test Korf’s conjecture in a large-scale experiment. Our results confirm that there is a direct relationship between m and t.

A Highly Scalable RFID Authentication Protocol

In previous RFID protocols, a hash-chain is used to achieve good privacy. Each tag is associated with a chain of Q hash values. To identify one tag out of a total of N tags, a server searches a table of size NQ. A naive search takes either Θ(NQ) time or Θ(NQ) memory, and therefore it does not scale well. A time-space tradeoff technique can mitigate the scalability problem. However, with the tim...

A New Mathematical Approach based on Conic Quadratic Programming for the Stochastic Time-Cost Tradeoff Problem in Project Management

In this paper, we consider a stochastic Time-Cost Tradeoff Problem (TCTP) in PERT networks for project management, in which all activities are subjected to a linear cost function and assumed to be exponentially distributed. The aim of this problem is to maximize the project completion probability with a pre-known deadline to a predefined probability such that the required additional cost is min...

Branch and Bound with Mini-Bucket Heuristics

The paper describes a new generic branch and bound scheme that uses heuristics generated mechanically by the mini-bucket approximation. The scheme is presented and evaluated for the Most Probable Explanation (MPE) task in Bayesian networks. We show that the mini-bucket scheme yields monotonic heuristics of varying strengths which cause different amounts of pruning during search. The resulting B...

Optimal Time-Space Tradeoff in Probabilistic Inference

Recursive Conditioning, RC, is an any-space algorithm lor exact inference in Bayesian networks, which can trade space for time in increments of the size of a floating point number. This smooth tradeoff' is possible by varying the algorithm's cache size. When RC is run with a constrained cache size, an important problem arises: Which specific results should be cached in order to minimize the run...

T-S FUZZY MODEL-BASED MEMORY CONTROL FOR DISCRETE-TIME SYSTEM WITH RANDOM INPUT DELAY

A memory control for T-S fuzzy discrete-time systems with sto- chastic input delay is proposed in this paper. Dierent from the common assumptions on the time delay in the existing literatures, it is assumed in this paper that the delays vary randomly and satisfy some probabilistic dis- tribution. A new state space model of the discrete-time T-S fuzzy system is derived by introducing some stocha...
